(6.) The expenditure already incurred on the site for the propos Western Market is say $78,000, and the expenditure also already incur red on the Praya Reclamation in front of the Cricket Ground is su $100,000 which sums form part of the total of Public Works Extra ordinary amounting to $2,680,000. If sold, these reclamations and oth Governinent lands available would realize large sums of money,

Resolved therefore-

(1.) That while it is possible to realize Assets at fair and rea sonable prices it is not considered advisable for the Go vernment to borrow further monies.

(2.) That any deficit in the Revenues of the Colony during

this year be arranged for locally in the currency Hongkong on reasonable terms.

(3.) That, owing to the present violent fluctuations in the valo of silver as measured in gold, it is considered expedien to defer for the present, borrowing in sterling money.
